Architectural lighting, wooden blinds, doors, hidden baseboards and other minimalist solutions by Design Radar, impeccably put into practice. We continue the series of vlogs on the designs of our collaborating architects with a penthouse-duplex design by Hype Project .

The penthouse has a total area of 475 square meters, is arranged on two levels and is located in the city of Constanța. The interior design is signed by architects Adrian Ianculescu and Victor Grosu from the Hype Project office (specialized in premium residential interior design) and took three years.

The architects took over the penthouse while the building was under construction and completely redid the partitioning to take full advantage of the spaces.

An ethereal atmosphere

The light colors of the interior create a relaxed atmosphere. The living area is an open space of 120 square meters, with a generous height of 2.91 meters. The glass walls create a special effect: the interior is flooded with natural light.

For privacy and comfort, this penthouse design used white painted linden wood blinds , which can be controlled by Smart. We often recommend wooden blinds in projects, because they have multiple functions:

  • decorative effect
  • light filtering and control - shadows create a special mood
  • minimal maintenance
  • automatic control (day-night scenarios can be created), but also manual

The kitchen furniture is from the Italian brand Poliform, equipped with pocket-doors, which hide the shelves and the area for small appliances. For the kitchen island, a minimalist, slim LED lighting fixture was desired, which would provide work light along the entire length of the countertop. It is equipped with "invisible" recessed sockets.

"Light is very important in the cooking area. Here, we proposed a 360 cm long LED profile rail, which would correctly and balancedly illuminate the entire surface," specifies Pavel Căruntu, CEO of Design Radar.

A Smart home, architecturally illuminated

The penthouse is equipped with the KNX Smart Home System , a communication protocol that intelligently connects, in the network, the latest generation technologies of the home: lighting control, air conditioning control, shading system control, carried out via the phone application or central tablet inside the house.

The lighting is DALI type, controlled via the KNX Gateway: it can control the lighting fixtures, modifying both the intensity and the on/off state.

All the lighting fixtures are from Design Radar. In the dining area, two Loop glass pendants from Arkos were used, suspended lighting fixtures with an industrial look, which illuminate the dining area.

The ceiling in the relaxation area is left with exposed concrete. White track lighting with directional spotlights and LED lines has been installed on it.

For the sofa area, the Sampei floor lamp by Davide Groppi was used, with its minimalist allure, inspired by a flexible and telescopic fishing rod.

Bedrooms with a WOW atmosphere

The penthouse has four bedrooms (two of which are doubles). The first-floor bedroom has a walk-in dressing room with Albed Prima sliding glass doors in a fumé finish.

Here too, wooden blinds were used, along with curtains, to provide, if necessary, complete darkness. The filomuro skirting boards (flush with the wall) represent an aesthetic solution, which continues the wall with the same finish and offers a design addition. Another solution is the Shadow Gap skirting board, used in the bedroom below at the junction with the ceiling and floor, to achieve the floating wall effect.

As lighting solutions, tracks with spotlights, hidden ("invisible") spotlights - with IP44 for the bathroom - and wall lamps with directional spotlights above the bedside tables were installed in the bedrooms and bathrooms.

All the interior doors in this penthouse are filomuro doors, with hidden frames , in our opinion a must-have in modern interiors. They are painted the same color as the wall, so the space seems continuous and uninterrupted.

Another trend in the field is represented by ventilation grilles recessed into the ceiling , which bring in fresh air and evacuate polluted indoor air, without drawing attention to themselves.

"Our philosophy reflects the new vision of luxury. New luxury means space, thinking, view, unique, exclusive things, not necessarily expensive, that make your life more beautiful. Acoustics, water, smart features, all the comfort possible today." Arch. Adrian Ianculescu.

At Design Radar, we collaborate with architects and interior designers to create minimalist and comfortable interiors. If you have a project for an apartment, restaurant, office or any other space, contact us or come to our showroom in Bucharest.
