In the first part of 2023, we took care of the architectural lighting for the beauty salon owned by Marisa Paloma in Bucharest. It is a space thought out down to the smallest details, where light sources streamline the areas and define the special atmosphere.
In the entrance area of Marisa Paloma Beauty Studio, the mural with Marisa's portrait is illuminated by two spotlights recessed into the ceiling. There are two asymmetrical wall-washer spotlights, which illuminate the wall from the side, at a well-calculated angle. It is the area that Marisa is most excited about.
The concept of "wall washing" refers to a lighting technique in which indirect vertical light is placed on the ceiling or floor so that it falls evenly on the wall. In this way, the wall is covered in light, and any shadows or defects disappear.
In the reception area, the logo is highlighted by a very soft, non-invasive light , obtained with the help of wall-washer spots with warm light, recessed in the ceiling, which illuminate to the side.
In the beauty area, light provides a state of comfort and relaxation. We proposed recessed spotlights, applied spotlights and recessed tracks with directional spotlights , so that the space is illuminated without visually disturbing. In the washing area, we precisely calculated the angle of light, so that it is directed strictly on the washing tub, and not on the face of the client relaxing in the armchair.
" The goal was for the light to come to the aid of the salon professionals and create increased comfort for the clients . We chose warm light everywhere, 3000K (in areas where work is not based on it) and 4000K (where the specialist needs to see all the details), with directional spotlights that do not shine invasively. We always think about lighting by area, depending on the destination of each space", specifies Pavel Căruntu, CEO of Design Radar.
Marisa Paloma is extremely pleased with the result : "From the moment I arrived at your showroom, I realized that you are the ones I want to work with. From the very beginning, I wanted it to be a salon that was as well lit as possible, but not the kind where the light hits you in the face when you enter. I really wanted to create an environment that was as comfortable as possible for the clients."
