Smart Home technology is no longer an optional element in contemporary interior design and architecture projects, but an essential component that influences comfort, energy efficiency, and quality of life.
On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, we hosted a training session dedicated to Smart Home systems at the Design Radar showroom, organized alongside Schneider Electric and addressed to architects and interior designers interested in integrating smart solutions into their projects.

The event began with networking and breakfast in a relaxed setting, followed by an interactive presentation delivered by Andrei Croitoriu, KNX Product Application Engineer at Schneider Electric, and Pavel Căruntu, CEO of Design Radar.
What Smart Home means and why it matters in interior design
A Smart Home system allows for the integrated control of a home's functions—lighting, climate control, blinds, security, or environmental scenes—through a unified and intelligent infrastructure.
During the presentation, we discussed the Smart Home scenarios implemented in the Design Radar showroom and how they can be adapted to each interior design project. Smart scenarios offer not only comfort but also aesthetic coherence, eliminating the need for multiple switches or fragmented solutions.

Why we recommend Smart Home solutions in architecture and interior design projects
Integrating Smart Home technology from the design phase brings clear benefits for both architects and clients:
- intuitive control of lighting and ambiance
- optimization of energy consumption
- flexibility in space utilization
- a personalized living experience
- discreet integration of technology into the design concept
A well-thought-out Smart Home project offers long-term value and contributes significantly to the premium perception of the space.

The KNX Protocol – the international standard for Smart Home
A key point of the training was the presentation of the KNX protocol, internationally recognized as the open standard for home and building automation.
We discussed the benefits of KNX compared to other protocols:
- interoperability between multiple brands
- long-term stability and reliability
- scalability for residential and office projects
- independence from a single supplier
For architects, using KNX means design freedom, technical security, and the ability to create customized Smart Home solutions.

Optimizing Smart Home solutions from the design phase
An essential aspect discussed during the training was the optimization of Smart Home solutions at the concept stage. Early integration of automation allows for:
- correct distribution of control points
- avoiding costly later modifications
- aligning technology with the aesthetics of the space
Collaboration between the architect, showroom, and Smart Home solution provider is essential for a coherent and efficient result.

Human-Centric Lighting (HCL) – light adapted to the human rhythm
An important chapter of the presentation was dedicated to Human-Centric Lighting (HCL), with a focus on office spaces as well as its applicability in the residential area.
HCL involves adjusting the intensity and color temperature of light throughout the day to support biological rhythm, focus, and well-being. Smart Home solutions allow these scenarios to be implemented in an automated and discreet way, without affecting the interior design aesthetics.

Support for architects and integrated solutions at Design Radar
During the training, we also addressed challenges frequently encountered by architects in Smart Home projects, such as coordinating teams, integrating technology, or communicating with the final client.
Through the partnership with Schneider Electric, Design Radar offers architects:
- specialized technical consulting
- support during the design phase
- Smart Home solutions integrated into the design concept
- support for a coherent and tested implementation
